Hinge Studio served as prime consultant and architect in evaluating the needs of Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) and reviewing their existing facility to determine if it could support their current and future needs. Hinge coordinated a team including, Structural, Civil, Geotech, Environmental, and MEPF engineers as well as a cost consultant. Through tours and visual inspection of the site and building, review of existing documents and code research, followed by staff and volunteer interviews/surveys, the team identified the existing space allocations, operational issues of the facility and the current lifespan of the building and site. Hinge also collected historical data and reviewed shelter best practices to project current and future needs for the facility. The team developed programs and associated costs for possible short term reuse of the existing facility and as well as for a new facility, site unknown.
